YRC, Teamsters Reach Tentative Pact on 10% Pay Cut

YRC Worldwide and Teamsters union leaders reached a tentative agreement on a 10% pay cut for union employees to help reduce costs, Bloomberg reported late Wednesday.

Dynamex’s Fiscal 1Q Earnings Decline

Logistics and delivery firm Dynamex Inc. said Thursday its fiscal first-quarter profit fell to $3 million, or 30 cents a share, from $4 million, or 39 cents, a year ago.

Class 8 Fleet Declines in 3Q as Freight Market Weakens

The number of U.S. Class 8 trucks on the road at the end of the third quarter dropped by 17,000 from a year earlier, the first year-to-year decline since research firm R.L. Polk & Co. began reporting on truck fleets in 2003.

Meritor WABCO Debuts System for Automatic Truck Braking
ATLANTA — Meritor WABCO demonstrated its new automatic braking system for heavy-duty trucks that is integrated with its anti-lock braking and stability control systems. Executives said the system can cut accident rates, especially rear-end collisions, which account for nearly 20% of all truck-involved crashes.

Clean Energy Opens Large LNG Plant in Calif.
In anticipation of increased demand for liquefied natural gas as a motor fuel, Clean Energy Fuels Corp. has begun production at the largest liquefied natural gas plant in the Southwest, the company said.
Tenneco Cuts 1,100 Jobs, Closes Factories
In a cost-cutting move, automobile exhaust manufacturer Tenneco Inc. is cutting 1,100 jobs and closing four U.S. plants and an engineering center in Australia. The changes will save the company about $64 million annually.
Ryder Acquires Canadian Transport Firms
Ryder System Inc. has reached an agreement to acquire nearly all of the assets of Canadian transport and logistics companies Transpacific Container Terminal Ltd. and CRSA Logistics Ltd. Financial terms were not disclosed.
FMCSA Leaves Hours-of-Service Rule Unchanged
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is making no changes to its controversial hours-of-service rule.
